Introduction

We live in a world that only keeps changing and when technology changes at a very high rate, it might be too much to cope with. It goes with the smartphones, and it goes with the apps, yet there is always something that is new to learn and get used to. As exciting as this evolution is, it may also result in what is called a mental fatigue. Although these continuous changes our for the better; they can end up making us feel physically exhausted.

The Speed of Progression

The speed of progression in the digital era has increased significantly and we know that technology does not go without its advantages: an increased connection, access to tremendous amounts of information, and a simplification of the process. The rate at which such changes happen however can induce anxiety. Every new update comes with some new functions, and the thoughts can be, “What will happen to me in case I fall behind?” This needs to keep up to date may cause technostress; a kind of stress which occurs out of dealing with technological excess. It, just as any other stressor, may lead to the emergence of the feelings of frustration and burnout, especially in high school when students must perform both academically and socially.

Keeping Up with the Updates

Whenever there is a new update, consumers must experience an uphill task of having to learn it all. Alterations in interfaces and functions even baffle the most technologically advanced people. When it becomes cognitive load to the students, it may exhaust students very fast. Attempting to get the hang of the latest technology, all the while having important assignments and extracurricular duties, and juggling friendships, may seem like an uphill struggle. It is not surprising that quite some of us would be wishing we could use a breakout of this windfall of new features.

Fear of Missing Out (FOMO)

The modern world of digital interactions has made FOMO one of the most descriptive features of a modern person. Each new update in an application makes things more dramatic-- what if we lose the necessary social interactions or trends? This angst is what drives us to deal with the technology even though we could not be interested in doing so causing a circus of angst and checking. The necessity to be up to date can isolate a person when he/she is not on par/a par with everything to advance the loads on our resources and powers. It is important to pay attention to the updates that are necessary. Such focused strategy can be used to minimize cognitive overload and make the process less intimidating. Make sure to learn just about the traits that will help you to improve your everyday life or studies.

Conclusion: Embracing the Change

Technology is advancing fast which may be tiresome; however, there is a growth chance here. Through knowing how constant updates can affect us psychologically, we are able to put in place means of dealing with them. Electing to live with the change would not mean that we should be overwhelmed, perhaps we might need to transform our relationship with technology. With our further steps towards the digital landscape, we need to reach a sweet spot, where we can be exactly who we want without being caught in the abyss of constant changes.
