Introduction

Ever had that moment of doubt in your mind where you just thought, oh but where did all my photos, videos and documents go once I upload them on the internet? Then you should learn about cloud. There are so many people who wonder why we keep saving our valuable data in an entity known as the cloud. It can be described as magic, but it is an up-to-date method of employing technology to maintain our data safe, available and arranged. Here in this blog, let’s learn what is the cloud, where is the cloud, why do we use it so greatly and why has it become so necessary in our digital life?

What is Cloud?

In essence, the cloud is constituted of a system of servers where the data and the software that runs the applications are deposited. As opposed to storing files on the hard drive of your computer, it is possible to store them on a remote server in which they can be accessed through the internet. It is a virtual memory that acts as a personal storage area where you can store your files, but it does not physically occupy room on your gadgets. Examples of values you can hold in cloud storage are Google Drive, Dropbox, and iCloud services where you can view your files wherever you are.

Where is the Cloud located?

As we all know that the word cloud means a source of water stored together in the air; it may sound to be surprising to you that it is not necessarily flying in the air! In real sense, cloud data is distributed in massive data centers, which are full of servers placed in different parts of the world. These data centers have strong computers which handle and secure your data. These facilities are owned by companies such as Amazon, Google, and Microsoft, and when you back up your files on the cloud, you can be assured that back up is safe and redundant to avoid loss of data.

What are the reasons of using the Cloud?

There are several reasons to use cloud storage and not the traditional ones:

1. Accessibility: You will be able to access your data in any gadget like laptop, smartphone, or a tablet but with an internet connection.

2. Teamwork: The cloud simplifies work together as people. You will also be able to exchange files with friends or teammates in real-time allowing to collaborate easily on any project or group assignments.

3. Security: With most of the cloud providers, your data will be safe when it comes to loss of data because of hardware malfunction or theft and even accidents.

4. Cost Effective: There are no physical storage devices to be used with cloud storage. In many cases, the cloud services are run on subscription bases where users can only pay what they really require.

Conclusion

To conclude, knowledge of cloud cannot be missed by any technology user. It has transformed our lives completely by making information storage and sharing easier. Google drive, and One Drive are the common data storage options today, whether at school/college/office, or in personal projects or even saving of photos this is now what is referred as the cloud.
